"The concept of total wellness recognizes that our every thought, word, and behavior affects our greater health and well-being. And we, in turn, are affected not only emotionally, but also physically and spiritually."

~G. Anderson

"Wellness is not a ‘medical fix’ but a way of living - a lifestyle sensitive and responsive to all the dimensions of the body, mind, and spirit; An approach to life we each design to achieve our highest potential for well-being, now and forever."

~G. Anderson

How we can help you …

The Britton Wellness Group primarily offers behavioral medicine services that acknowledge the interplay between behavioral, cognitive, emotional, social and biological components of your health and disease conditions.

Treatment addresses these aspects while working towards health promotion and maintenance. This approach implemented across all services is known as the bio-psycho-social-cultural model. Implementing this approach allows for the provision of tailored and culturally competent treatment.

Defining Behavioral Medicine …

Behavioral medicine (B-Med) is an interdisciplinary field focused on the central role of behavior in health and illness. Behavioral Medicine is also referred to as clinical health psychology or medical psychology.

More than 25 years of research, clinical practice and community-based interventions have shown that behavior and lifestyle changes can improve health, prevent illness and reduce symptoms of illness. Specifically, behavioral interventions have been proven to effectively prevent disease, improve physical and emotional wellbeing, improve management of existing chronic disease, increase self-care skills, and improve quality of life. Moreover, behavioral interventions also can improve the effectiveness of medical interventions, reduce over-utilization of the healthcare system and reduce the overall costs of care.

What is a medical or health psychologist?

A clinical health psychologist implements various clinical services across diverse settings and patient populations to not only promote health and wellness, but also to prevent, treat, rehabilitate and manage acute and chronic illness or disability.

Basically, we implement various behavioral health techniques to treat medical and mental health conditions. The treatment emphasis is the utilization of psychological and behavior change principles to improve an individual’s physical and mental wellbeing, reduce or alleviate symptoms of illness, and prevent symptom relapse. Ultimately, our job is to improve your quality of life!

“A healthy lifestyle is the most potent medicine at your disposal.” ~Sravani Saha Nakhro
